About Connect
- Connect Career Expo is your first step to connecting with future employees. Take this opportunity to get to know them and make personal introductions that may lead to a great new future staff member.
Staff Your Booth
- Just like first impressions are important for you when you meet a prospective employee, they are also checking you out. Make sure your booth is staffed with a positive representation of your company. Smile. Have a good time. Students love to interact and get hands on, so have something for them to grab, see, read, do, experience. Leave a positive good impression.
Salaries and Benefits
- Be clear to your prospective employee on the wages offered. If your salary offers are based on experience, make sure you emphasize that. For some students, this may be their first job, so they may not completely understand "benefits". Take some time to clearly communicate what you offer.
- BENEFITS: If you only mention a salary, sometimes you are leaving off vital monetary information to a prospective employee. If you offer health insurance, dental, or a company phone, company vehicle, paid vacation days, etc... Make sure you mention "this is the salary and on top of that, you get..." Make sure they understand the complete package you offer.
How Do They Apply?
- Some students may come with resumes, and some may not even have a resume. Be flexible. If you only allow online applications, make sure you have a flyer, business card, or something with the link on it and encourage them to pull their phone out and go ahead and apply.
- If you conduct one on one interviews at a later time, have an easy way to let them know your location. Give them something they can keep and later pull back out and remember to come see you.
Will They Like You?
- Make a memory.
- Find a way to stand out from the other booths.
- Be creative with how you display your company.
- Got games? Do something that they will want to do even if they aren't thinking about your company right now. They will remember an experience and possibly associate it with your company later on.
GET UP!
- Please do not sit down all day at your booth.
- If a student sees you sitting down they are not invited to approach you. Be interactive, stand out in front of your booth and engage people as they walk by.

This talent summit is open exclusively to high school seniors from Pontotoc, Union, and Lee Counties as well as students from Itawamba and Northeast Mississippi Comunity Colleges. Connect is an excellent opportunity for your company to meet prospective employees who are energetic and brand new to the job market.

Any business that is actively hiring. We encourage companies from a variety of industries to participate including manufacturing, finance, health care, retail and more!

Where do I sign up?

Connect is presented by the Community Development Foundation and you may register for a booth on the CDF Events page. CDF Members have a discounted rate for their booths. If you are interested in becoming a member of CDF, contact Amy Speck at 662-842-4521.
